Sync solves exactly one thing: the browser is the same wherever you open it. After signing in, bookmarks, passwords and settings travel with your account, so a new machine or platform needs no reconfiguration.
Turning sync on
Click the avatar in the top right and sign in; sync begins automatically. The first sync uploads local data and merges cloud data, which takes as long as the data volume requires.

Signing out and clearing
Signing out stops sync and removes the local copy of synced data; downloaded files and local bookmarks remain. You can also review signed-in devices and sign out remotely.

Will sync mess up my bookmarks?
Sync merges by last modification time and folds same-named folders together. Still, export a bookmark backup before the first sync.
How do I restore bookmarks on a new phone?
Sign in with the same account on the new phone; once sync completes the bookmarks appear with no extra steps.
