Ad blocking is not about "blocking everything" — it removes what actually hurts reading: floating bars covering the text, autoplaying video ads, and fake download buttons. The built-in rule set updates itself, and you can whitelist sites you want to support.
What is blocked by default
Two levels ship with the browser. Basic blocks banners, floating bars and pop-ups; strict also handles video ads, promoted feed items and some tracking scripts, at the cost of occasionally catching a legitimate page module.

When something is blocked by mistake
If part of a page is missing, open the blocking icon in the address bar to see what was filtered, allow the suspicious rule temporarily, and send feedback so the rule can be corrected in the next release.

How it relates to extensions
Built-in blocking and third-party blocking extensions can coexist, but overlapping rules raise the false-positive rate and memory use. Pick one: the built-in blocker, or one extension you trust.

FAQ
Does blocking ads hurt site revenue?
It can. That is why a whitelist exists — for sites that rely on ads you can turn blocking off for that site to support the author.
Why are some ads still showing?
Some ads are returned in the same response as the content and cannot be separated; others are baked into video streams and can only be partly handled by the strict level.
